Deadline:

Our next Payback Grant deadline will be June 4, for submissions, and the recipient will be announced July 2, 2010. Those institutions, which have made submissions for our first grant, must to notify me by June 4th, if they wish these projects to be considered for our second Payback Grant. If I do not receive notification, I will assume you have made other arrangements for your current digitization projects.

Thank you for your participation!

Concept:

Digital Preservation has over the years donated time and digital services to various organizations. Our contributions have been in honor of those individuals who have dedicated their lives to preserving our history.
To date, digital projects, receiving our assistance, has been a company choice and limited to a small number of locally know projects. To make this process fair and equitable, open to the entire archival community, Digital Preservation agrees to donate time and digitization services to any eligible organization wishing to participate in a digital project review.

We are offering, semi-annually, to digitize special collections material and artifacts, provide one hundred digital image captures, off-site, postproduction, Tiffs, Jpegs and the appropriate storage media, at no cost, for the selected institution.

Submissions:

Eligible organizations include Universities, Libraries, Archives, Museums, Historical Societies, Foundations, Religious and other related non-profits.
To participate interested organizations should submit a brief description of the digitization project they wish to undertake, why they consider it to be of historic relevance and contact information. A digital photo of a representative example of the source material is requested.

Organizations may submit more then one project for consideration. Submissions may be pilot projects for attachment to future grant applications. Organizations must reapply semi-annually.
